It had occured to me last night, that KODAK SP must have been a rather shortlived film stock. Well, compared to Eastman, L.P.P. and reguLAR Eastman, or Kodachrome, ect.

But exactly HOW short of time was it around? Was it only about a decade? I'm pretty sure it was about by 1980, wasn't it fazed out by the late 80's in favor of Eastman L.P.P. or AGFA?

Hmmm.

I don't know the exact dates, but I believe SP started somewhere around 1974 and was gone by the time LPP was released (late 1982)...

I think that it might have existed for a little while longer, as I have a print of "Little Shop of Horrors" (1986), and it's definitely on Kodak SP. Could this be due to excessive overstock of a already defunct film stock, just used by until it ran out?

Probably old stock -- did you check the date code on the stock?

I've never seen a 16mm SP later than 1982.

Here's a link to a date code chart for Eastman/Kodak film stocks

Steve, it's a VERY interesting chart. If you could, please explain how to tell which year a film stocks markings are, as
I would love to understand how to use the chart.
