Tonight I noticed that both my Elmo’s GS1200 are leaving slight abrasion marks on my prints. The marks are to be found on the side with the magnetic tracks and run continuously next to the sprockets, just into the image area. This abrasion, not a real firm line but fine scratches, is only barely visible with the naked eye and (luckily) invisible in projection. I discovered that this happens in the first sprocket shoe, right when the film is about to leave the fixed part and just right before it enters the loop former. It is not a caused by a worn input guide, one is plastic and in good shape, the other one is a the remanufactured one from Wittner. Is this “the Elmo’s mark” or is there a remedy to this ? Thanks.
