First, let me say thank you again to all of you, especially Steve Klare who helped me with some issues I was having with my Bolex SP Special Model Super 8mm projector. I was able to get everything working properly. I was quite impressed with the machine...plays anything, solid, has a great lens...sharpest picture by far. Then kabooom! Another problem. I took the pressure plates out to clean them, put them back in and I am 99% sure they are in correctly. I turned the back control knob to the correct setting to remove them without damage but when I put them back in, the picture is all out of whack, as if it were a dual 8 machine and I put the standard 8 pressure plates in when trying to run Super 8 film through it. It's just a bunch of lines and moving figures. I have done everything I can think of. Does anyone have any idea what has happened and how to remedy it if possible? Sincerely, Brian Cook

Hi Brian
The 1st thing to look at is the claw pins. See if they are both in place. They may have been damaged & broken off. Take out the plates & examine the claw tip closely. The pins are thin and can be broken off easily.
Then symptoms like you describe begin.
Hope I am wrong.

I agree,

-and also turn the inching knob and see that the claw pushes down, moves inward, moves up, pushes outward and then repeats the cycle. When you are done align the dots at the knob to protect the claw.

(-and if it happens backwards it just means you are turning the knob the other way!)

Here's the correct reassembly of the plates:

This one first:

 -

The two pins shown on the right fit into two holes in the lamp housing.

Next comes this:

 -

The two spring clips on the opposite side press sgainst the back of the lens holder and the single pin shown on the right drops into a hole in the first plate.
