I went to Cinevent this past weekend and had a blast. I met lots of nice people and learned a lot more about my new hobby. I was hoping for a little larger selection of S8 films for some titles I'm hunting for, but I still picked up some prints. Some are really nice and others, not so much. I picked up a Little Rascals "Hide and Shriek" and even asked the dealer if it was in good shape. He assured me it was. When I went to clean and lube it, I noticed it had some bad splices. 14 fixed splices later I gave up. After doing all the work, I played the print. Funny film but very choppy after the edits. The good news is I got to work on my splicing technique and have a new title to put on my "hunt" list.

Thanks Doug. A while back I saw a member worrying about their projector breaking down someday. Another member told them to stop worrying about it and enjoy the projector while it worked. He went on to say if it broke down-just buy another. That's what I'm trying to do: Enjoy the hobby and not sweat the small stuff.

My sentiments, exactly. I used to live in secret panic that every time I ran a film - it would be the last time. I've adopted the same attitiude.... When it happens, it happens and I'm just going to enjoy my film until then.
