Hello everyone,

First post here, and am very nervous. Anyway, here goes.

I purchased a Keystone K-100 8mm projector yesterday which looks brand new. The seller said it hadn't been used in ten years, at least. I don't have any film yet so just ran it without film for 30 minutes and it did well. The sound of the projector occasionally went high and low, but this was it.I even opened the back casing and everything looks good. Do you think I should lubricate the chain-drives, gears, etc.? What lube should I use? Any other advice?

My other B & H Autoload is .... autoload. So, threading is easy. Can someone provide me a link from where I can learn how to thread the film on my Keystone? Or, explain here please? There is something on ehow.com but it seems to be for someone who already knows a bit of manual threading.

Thanks,
Akshay Nanjangud

Hello Akshay, welcome to the forum. I do not believe your projector needs lubrication from the user. If it does, there should be little holes colored in red. Couple drops of mid weight oil will work. Search this forum for "lubrication" and you will find threads recommending lubes. Your projector should have threading indicators stamped into it that show the thread route. Here is a YouTube video of one in action. Stop it at the start or end to see how the threading goes. It is very simple.

Thanks!

There is a little red knob, just under the lens, that goes up and down. Do you know what this does? Should I have it up or down when playing?

I believe you are referring to the frame adjustment lever. When showing a print, if the top or bottom frame border shows on the screen, move the red lever up or down until the frame shows correctly on the screen.
