Just heard the extremely sad news that Gerry Anderson has just
died aged 83.Gerry was the creator of some very high quality
childrens TV shows in the '50s & '60s like "Four Feather Falls",
"Supercar", Fireball XL5","Stingray","Thunderbirds","Capt. Scarlet"
"Joe 90" a whole array of characters, that had one thing in common, they were all marionettes. These shows played a large
part in our lives as kids during this era,and they also served for
a training ground for the special effects crews who would work on the James Bond extravaganzas. He at last worked with real actors in the TV series " Space 1999" which at the time was
one of the most expensive sci-fi shows on Television. His two
feature films of "Thunderbirds" will stand as testimony to his
skills rather than the travesty that was made in live action and
suffered from poor script and changed his beloved characterisations. For the millions of children and adults that
loved your shows, I know because I am one of them, R.I.P.
and sincere condolences to his wife and Family.

What did they call that back then? "Marionation" or something like that, with the puppet work?

I believe they even made a feature film of the the "Thunderbirds" as it was so popular.

Sad to see another very creative fellow pass on, but it's wonderful that while gone, because of his enormous output, he certainly won't be forgotten to soon.

It was called "super marionation". I loved all those shows. When I saw the feature film it was great except for the stupid "sex scene" that looked hilarious and almost got them an "R" rating.

RIP Gerry Anderson
