Have any of you run into this problem? If I haven't run the projector that day, and thread film into it, it will run slow. If I then turn it off, and put it into reverse for a second or two, and back into the forward position, it will generally work fine. Both belts have been recently replaced too. I was having the problem before I changed them as well. Any thoughts appreciated.

The ST-800 has an electronically regulated DC motor. It sounds like something is funky down on the power board or with the speed sensor (mounted on the back of the motor.) or with some wiring in between.
Since the problem comes and goes I'm hoping it's just some flaky connection. Maybe you need to look at the cabling associated with the motor and make sure it is in good shape and firmly plugged in. Maybe if you go over the power board you will find some old, oxidized solder connection you can reflow and restore.
Good Luck!
