I finally picked up the Sound 8 machine from ebay.
After a good cleanup and some testing, everything seems to be running good.
There is one issue however. It runs slow.
I noticed a couple of resistors(caps)attached to the motor and thought maybe they went bad. Although if they were bad wouldn't it run fast?
Anyway, obviously I don't know.
Anybody have any experience with these machines?

If it is a single phase AC motor, then a dodgy capacitor could cause a drop in the motor's performance, is the motor unusually noisy?
Either way, capacitors that old are quite possibly out of spec, and cheap and easy to replace. I'd replace them anyway and see if it solves the problem.
