This is a big question for me.

I am APUG member and We use Analog Cameras and processes and scan the results and put to the APUG gallery with maximum 500 KB limit per image.

500 KB images appears as 9X13cms image on the screen.I order scans of 35mm film to 17mb and decrease its size 1/32 to 500 KB image.First question , is that file size decreasement a compression process or is there an other explanation ?

And now the Big Question ,

If I get 200 KB Normal Definition Telecine per
single frame 8mm film PHOTOGRAPHS
from Bolex C8 and FOMA Reversal BW ,
would be the UNCOMPRESSED images same quality or better than 35mm compressed file ?

Thank you for your help,
