I would like to start with my setup at my location to transfer 8mm film. I use the Elmo TRV-8 telecine system that goes out to a ADVC. The ADVC goes into my iMac via Firewire which is then captured by Final Cut Pro.

Everytime I try capturing footage from my machine green horizontal lines appear in the video. I swapped out the cables and tried jimmying the output for the machine, with no results. Let me know if you have any suggestions in fixing this issue. Its only noticeable on the darker parts of the film, but i would like to fix it throughout.

To me it looks like a disturbance or something in the video feed. It looks suspiciously like the green lines you often see when digitizing old VHS tapes. What sort of camera are you using with this setup? Which cables etc?

Well who’s on first? Yeah. Go ahead and tell me. Who. The guy on first. Who. The guy playin’ first base. Who. The guy on first. Who is on first! What are you askin’ me for? I’m askin’ you!

Im trying to project the film now to see if its an issue with the camera on the machine or the connection with the computer. Im not sure the model of the camera on the machine, but its most likely the stock version.
