Just purchased one in a thrift store. Very clean, but runs slow. I opened it up and it has metal spring belts running the arms and one thick rubber belt on the motor that looks fine.
I see no speed adjustment screw. I know companies like Montgomery Ward put their band on other companies work. This one looks kind of like a Chinon, but I can't tell. So, is there a way to tell what a Montgomery Ward 830 really is so I can order a new belt and possibly learn if I can adjust the speed?
Thanks,
Ken

I believe it is a Chinon Sound 8000. There should be a slide switch for 18/24 speeds situated at lower right.
If the speeds are not correct, there will probably be adjustment pots inside.
Perhaps someone in the know can verify my comments.

If it is a re badged Chinon 8000 it is an electronically controlled D.C. drive chain on this projector, so unless there nothing obviously wrong with the mechanism, i.e. sloppy drive belt etc, as Maurice says it will need electronically adjusting on the potentiometer.

Are both speeds running slow or just one?

From your description of the symptoms you are witnessing, it isn't absolutely clear whether you mean the projector speed is slow while actually running a film to view it, or whether you are referring to rewinding facilities etc.

If you clarify Ken, it will become easier to pin point exactly where you need to be concentrating your efforts to resolve the issue.
