I'm searching german silent movies which aren't published on DVD. Reg8 and Super8 are possible. Who wants to sell something?

Unfortunately I can't give exact names because I don't know which silent movies were released on 8mm. But something like "Schloss Vogelöd" or "Nju" would be great.
Dimitrios, do you know something about greek silent movies on 8mm? Earlier this month I saw three of them in a presentation of the Greek Film Archive. If there are existing 8mm-copies of "Astero" or the silent version of "Dafnis kai Chloi" I would be pleased.

Thomas, I remember having seen Schloss Vogelöd on Super 8 format.
Also the Nibelungen, Das Kabinett von Dr. Caligari, Metropolis, Faust, Dr. Mabuse among others. I'll disappoint you however as to Orestis Laskos' film and Astero.
You may also contact apart from the Greek Film Archive, the photography circle from Platon Rivellis, which organizes film seminars similar to your preferences (http://www.photocircle.gr/Seminaria/eng_seminaria_frame.htm).

Thomas,

apart from the movies listed by Dimitrios, there was also F.W. Murnau's "Nosferatu" available full-length (4x400')from Atlas/Piccolo as well as in a number of digests by Blackhawk (3x400'/2x400'), Piccolo (400' silent and with musical track) and by the East German DEFA Kopierwerk (440' silent). Also, the first silent feature starring the famous German comedian Karl Valentin, "Der Sonderling" (1929) was available as a digest (divided up into four 110'-reels) from DEFA.
Watch out for more complete German silent films released by Andec Filmtechnik, a lab in Berlin, and digests released by DEFA Kopierwerk.

Hi Thomas,
I have "Das Wachsfigurenkabinett" by Paul Leni (1924) complete on standard 8mm.
If you're interested, please contact me via e-mail.

Thanks, Michael, but I already have this movie.
Beside german and greek silent movies, I'm very interested in latinamerican silents on Reg8 or Super8, too. But I think there aren't any releases. Do you know something about them?
Eberhard, I visited the website of Andec Filmtechnik, but they aren't selling movies. Or I haven't found the correct link.

Thomas,

you are right. Andec aren't film dealers; they are the lab where prints of some German silent films were struck. I remember that around 1994 Andec printed the Harry Piel movie "Achtung Harry! Augen auf!/6 Wochen unter Apachen" (1926). The prints were offered by ROGER VOLLSTÄDT FILMVERTRIEB in Bremerhaven then, but I'm not sure if Mr. Vollstädt is still in the film business (it seems that he now owns a music label: Vollstädt, Tel. 0049-471-503196, Fax 0049-471-503197, E-Mail: RVMusik@aol.com).
Today, new Andec prints are available from DIE FILMDOSE, Michael Schneider, Braunschweiger Strasse 77, 12055 Berlin.
