wouldnt putting a extended arm for larger reels put undue strain on the motor which was only designed h to hold 1200ft reels? Ist it a bad idea to modify rollers guides? why didnt Elmo offer a two bladed shutter as an option? Do GS 1200s have that split glass everyone takes out, and what purpose was it supposed to serve in the first place?

Isn't the glass split so it can accomodate the effect of heat Eric?

If the glass would be made from one piece, then it might be happen that the heat will split it into much more than 2 pieces during projection. Or the glass has to be very thin, but then mechanically sensitive, fragile.

The extension arms on GS1200 are in a fixed position, screwed on.
So is almost impossible to ship it by parcel. Owners carried it by car to the repair men.
The extension arms version worked for quite a while.
The mean problems arised with four broken gears (similar to the standard version). (Re)winding motors worked rather well.

No the GS doesnt have that split heat glass. It gets better cooling that the ST1200 from the dedicated cooling fan.

GS1200 Xenon with Elmo 1.0...great combo along with a 16-CL Xenon for that super bright white light.

Well, someone bought it "Buy-It-Now" for $1,495.

Looking forward to seeing what happens when those huge reels go up for sale... anyone know (beyond the obvious Goldbergs) where those came from... clear 3000' 17-inch in super 8! The 750m ones come from the UK, yes?
