just recieved a cheap cartoon film for my son on ebay, seller e-mailed me, this will be to your 100% satisfaction and will be treated w/ filmguard, now my question, films 800 ft. it looks warped and loose on reel almost looks like someone left it out in sun and does filmguard smell like WD40. haven't ran it yet till i talk to the real filmgods. Filmguard does NOT smell like WD40. It has a smell all its own.

Pasquale, thanks for the help this film i got smells like someone spayed wd40 on it, i ended up running film it ran pretty good, wiped film down when i rewinded it. will order a bottle of filmguard. thanks again David.

My experience is that Filmguard on a print can have a similar smell to WD40.

Those olfactory organs are pretty subjective!

Im with Michael on this one.

To me it smells identical to WD-40, I have even discussed this with Brad out of curiosity.

I can state unequivocally that FilmGuard is definitely NOT made from WD-40, and if anyone uses WD-40 on a film I will 'guarantee' I will never purchase that print from them [Smile]
