I was wondering how they have faired in your area, in the video age ? The local one here has almost gone although I was never a member, I understand there decline started when they moved to video and abandoned film altogether, this over time caused many members to loose interest and the situation they now find themselves in, so what has happend to all those movie clubs?

There is a film making club near me whose website says:
"LIMM is the oldest movie making club on Long Island. It started over 40 years ago when 16mm and 8mm film were used. Now it is nearly exclusively for videos. Enthusiasts who use any format, or editing system are welcome."
-translation: "come here and be lectured on why you shouldn't use that stuff anymore."
No Thanks!
One of the problems with clubs of any kind is very often they tend to operate by herd mentalities. I say why jump into the herd when it's obvious they're headed the other way?
Frankly, I think of this forum as my movie club. The meetings are happening whenever and wherever I want to join in, the atmosphere is friendly and the dues are a bargain!
