I finally found the Ken Films "Destroy All Monsters" Super 8 Sound/Color and yesterday Legendary Pictures announced they are taking the helm for a new American Godzilla movie. Legendary is guaranteeing it will be absolutely nothing like the 1998 Emerich/Devlin giant let down! It will be released in 2012.

Sweet! life is good!

The only S8 that I even think is of the original Godzilla was a French version called something like... "Godzilla Monster
From The Pacific" I still don't even know for sure about it.

Are there other S8 version(s) of the original?

A Japanese link:

A Japanese online-store with some used monster-films that look like Godzilla (no clue whether it's Super8 or Regular8):

Tim,

A few years back a full length German import of the 1956 Raymond Burr American release was available.

I'd love to get one of those Japanese Ultraman films.

I'm trying to remember the name of the French company that released this Godzilla film. It was either 8mm or Super 8, it was hard to tell from the auction, almost certain it was S8. I'm also almost certain it was only 50ft and silent.

"Godzilla Monster From The Pacific" (or something like that)

I bid on it and was outbid. It was only a few months ago.

Sounds like this film:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godzilla_vs._the_Sea_Monster

According to the ofdb ( http://www.ofdb.de/view.php?page=fassung&fid=3418&vid=285677 ) it was released on Super8 as a digest (colour, 1:1,33, 360m, Spanish soundtrack) by the Spanish company "Nostros Panoramas de Espana"

Acoording to this page, the Spanish title of the Super8-version was "ISLA DE LOS BAMBÚES ROJOS": http://www.cinefania.com/movie.php/135800/en
(This doesn't make any sense to me as it should translate into something like "Island of the red bamboo"... On the other hand: the German title of the cinematic release doesn't make any sense either as it's "FRANKENSTEIN UND DIE UNGEHEUER AUS DEM MEER" ("Frankenstein and the monsters from the sea"))

Tim, I was referring to the German print Doug mentioned. It was available awhile back through THE REEL IMAGE. I asked Steve about it but I was too late.

Yeah, that definitely sounds better than the 50ft silent version! Love to get a hold of that as well!
