TRAPS THE DRUM WONDER

BUDDY RICH 1918 – 1987

APRIL 2 2010 – 23 YEARS SINCE THE MUSIC DIED

While his music wasn’t for everyone, Buddy Rich dominated the drumming profession for nearly his entire life. It is hard to imagine it has been 23 years since he stopped performing. His parents were in Vaudeville and before long he was the highest paid drummer having started by the age of two.

I’ve been a fan of his music ever since I can remember. His passing is sad. The music world lost a friend, genius, smart and funny man. So on this anniversary of his death, please allow time for reflection. Drummers today have at some point been introduced to the legend’s work of art. And at no time will Traps ever be replaced.

Sincerely,

Chip Gelmini
