Sadly Robin Gibb, founding member of the Bee Gees, has lost the
battle with cancer and died today. His contribution to popular
music has been immense, not only in his own band, but also in
his writing for other musicians, giving them hit records. The Bee Gees sound gave us the Disco era and along with another great,
Donna Summer, who sadly also left us, defined the disco sound
and were synonymous with that time. Both of them will be greatly
missed and I'm sure members of our Forum express deepest
condolences to Barry and Ms Summers family

"How Can you mend ... a broken heart ...? "

My pick for the best Gibb song ever! (They went to hell with disco, personal opinion)

Well I'm a 'Floyd man Osi,but I've got to say there were some
great tunes during the "disco" period and I hated disco. It's a
sad fact that talents like we have just lost are very few and far between.

OK, I've got to give disco it's due for two reasons ...
There were some great ELO tunes during the Disco era, "Last Train to London" for instance, and the absloute best Disco sopng of all time?

"If I can't Have You" by Yvonne Elliman

mind you, that is only my personal opinion.

During the 70s they made a huge comeback with one of the most popular records ever produced with the "Saturday Night Fever" album. Remember also the movie "Airplane" on Super8 with the brilliant "spoof" with "Stayin Alive".

Like I've said Graham,I was never a fan of disco,but I know a good
tune when I hear it,even though it wasn't exactly my kind of thing there's no denying they were a helluva group, and their legacy is a big one,as with the late Donna Summers, both had their own sound and a large hole has been left by their demise. It's like your
topic "The Passing Years",It seems like only a couple of years ago
but at that time "Star Wars"was a new film just released, time
certainly does sneak away.

Tell me about it [Eek!] time does pass way to quick as life does [Frown] enjoy while it lasts.

Graham [Smile]

Its interesting the broad appeal of their music, one of the most popular 35mm adds we ran 60 seconds a few years ago was for Blue Bird chips...Jive Talking. I still have it somewhere.
