Just trying to help out a fellow bus driver who is going to visit New York along with his wife to Lower Manhattan near the end of this September for a couple of weeks.

He was telling me that its very expensive to find any accommodation, so I thought I would ask you guys that live there, is any places you might be able to recommend.

Thanks Graham.

Of course I am not the owner of www.kayak.com but this website is gathering all info from many accommodation websites and we can choose the cheapest hotel by sorting the search result based on low to high price.

To limit the search make the location as close as possible to your wanted area and the website will give the distance. Then you can sort based on distance and the price.

cheers,

I think the best way to stay in Manhattan is not stay in Manhattan: this is some of the priciest real estate in the world and hotel space there is going to cost you dearly.

When traveling to Manhattan, the thing to do is find out where you want to go and what public transit is available to get there and then land yourself at nearby lodgings off-Island.

I live out on the East Pole in Suffolk County, Long Island, New York and as much as it's home and I love it, even that is expensive enough!
