Here are some interesting images involving the first telecine device (somehow I am not surprised that the Germans came up with it, given their fast pace of tech development in the TV/film/audio areas before and during the War.)

60 line resolution...hey, if you've never seen anything like it, it would be impressive:

I remember seeing a documentary about the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, ...it was startling to see a scene of a civic center filled with German citizens, watching the games being broadcast live on a large rectangular TV (maybe 21" ). The TV tube/screen seemed remarkably, clear.
