The great cinematographer Douglas Slocombe has just died at the age of 103. He worked on many Ealing Studios classics and latterly with Steven Spielberg and many other master directors. His work will be remembered for a very long time.

Raiders of the Lost Ark, probably one of the best films of our generation it is and memorable for so many things including the sprawling cinematography. A screening tonight we will have. Those Ealing films were and are so amazing standing the test of time. Thoughts with his daughter..
I fear we are coming to an end of the greats in British cinema history but the excellent work undertaken by so many remains. RIP Dougie

Sad though the loss is there are still great cinematographers around to carry on the tradition though the studio era has gone.

Googie Withers name mentioned here, brings back many cheeky chapie childhood memories of sneeking down the stairs as a kid to watch the fascinating but slightly naughty for its era, Bouquet Of Barbed Wire aired on 70's British television at the time.
My Mum had witnessed nothing like it back then God Bless her!
I am certain my Dad approved of what now amounts to 21st Century Shades of Grey of the 70's! 😁😁😊
