What ever happened to the western genre?Did political correctness kill it or was it simply done to death. At one time every self respecting star managed to appear in a "taming the wild west" flick!Trev

I think it was done to death, but I don't think it will ever die permanently. There is something about the Old West which is perfect for the Big Screen, be it the awesome scenery or the sense of freedom and adventure. I've spent a lot of time in Texas and Arizona, and even today you can still feel it.

Maybe these days we have more modern kind of Westerns. One of my favorite movies is City Slickers. It works for me two ways, both as a guy from New York and someone who loves the West. It kind of takes the old John Wayne kind of Western and warps it with a bunch of modern guys with office jobs and wives and kids and mortgages. More about real men than "Real Men"

-What? I'm a movie critic now?

(Come to think of it, does Derann have the trailer for this one?)
