Howdy All!

Can anybody offer any tips on cleaning the lens as my square viewing screen area is looking more like the inside of a cave!

I use compressed air and that helps a little, but I believe I need to get in and literally clean the lens.

I think this is a "MUST" know for any projector owner/film enthusiast and any info would be appreciated.

Thanks!

This sounds more like your gate than the lens since the rectangle of the picture is really defined by the gate itself. This can accumulate debris around the edge and the shadows of all this stuff winds up on screen with the image.

I have small artists brush that I bought just to sweep this mess out. The real trick is to take the lamp out every so often so you can clean out the back of the gate.

The less crud anywhere inside the machine, the less chance chance any of it has to wind up in the gate in the first place. (That just leaves the crud that rides in on the films...)

Cleaning your lens (both front and back) can improve your picture considerably too (color, brightness, sharpness). I use soft dry cloths for the front and use a cotton swab to clean the rear element
