I'lll start by saying that my TV broke a week ago. To keep myself entertained I have been watching movies on my computer and at least a reel or two a night of Super 8.
I just finished watching the Terminator 2 Scope excerpt. Wow! The colors are fantastic and the picture is very sharp! The only other film I have that is scope is Alien (Great copy again) and the Phantom Menace Trailer.
What are some great cinemascope features and cutdowns on Super 8?
BTW- My copy of Flash Gordon in Scope is coming soon! Thanks Mr. Foster!

two of the best scope features I have ever seen have to be "Die Hard" & "Speed", both are superb, and "Die Hard" has a stonking Stereo soundtrack too! One of the best Scope cutdowns, again with a nice Stereo soundtrack has to be "The Neverending Story", this 600' cut runs smoothly, with only one or two minor jumps in telling the story. Slightly longer at around 50 minutes is the Cineavision print of "Ben-Hur", which again is excellent, considering when it was printed (early 80's), so there are a few to look out for, but there are plenty out there.

Best scope feature I have seen is, without question, "Grease", sharp as a tack with great color saturation, and an absolute knock out with re-recorded stereo tracks. Best scope 400ft excerpt is the "Pearl Harbor" excerpt- the most impressive super 8 scope I have seen to date. Honorable mention- "Lady and the Tramp", "Masque of the red Death" and "First men in the Moon".
S8 Scope is great, it really moves the viewing experience up several notches above projected video.

Paul, you are right about the image being notches above video. When I was watching the Terminator I kept feeling like I was in a MOVIE theatre. Its crazy what the added width of the film does to the senses. It is so much better than the standard frame ratio. BTW- I was watching "Wizard of Oz" too. Another great print!
"Grease" looks great. I want that one too. Super 8 is so addictive and expensive!
Should of gotten into collectible soup cans....

I agree with the thoughts on Pearl Harbour. Having watched the full film last night on telly I was struck by how bored I became of the attack scenes. It struck me how well edited the 400ft reel is and I enjoyed that much more than the full version.

Nice older cutdowns are Silver Dream Racer, Star Wars {with the Death Star Destruction}, Bridge on the River Kwia and Ben Hur all look good. Some super sharp trailers are Mission to Mars, The Mummy Returns, Pearl Harbour. Features: Die Hard 2 is great appart from reel 2 which looks a bit dupey. My print of Speed is nice and sharp but the colours look a bit washed out and Star Trek Generations good with nice colour.

Flash Gordon is my absolute favorite super 8 scope film.

Fabulous print, great sound, great costumes and high camp! What more could you ask for? [Big Grin]
