Hi All,
I'm new here. I would like to buy a sound, regular 8/ super 8 projector (with variable speed would be nice, but not necessary). So far, I only find silent 8's that are as I described OR sound super 8/ single 8 units. What are the brands/ model numbers of sound reg 8/super 8's that I need to look for and where? What are the avaerage prices for these? Not looking to spend a fortune, just want to trade/ sell my two 8's I have now to free up room. I now have a nice silent Chinon GL-2500 super 8/ reg 8 with variable speed and a nice Hanimex (multi-voltage) sound super 8 only. Just want one to cover all the bases. Thank you, Rick.

Hi Rick,
Your best bet is probably to get a Eumig Dual 8 sound projector. Eumig made several very good high quality dual 8's in the S700,S800, and S900 series, and there are plenty of them around. Go to eBay and search under Eumig, and I am sure you will find one within a couple of weeks. Do not confuse Single 8 with regular 8. Single 8 refers to Super 8 film camera stock packaged in the Fujii single 8 casette. ALL Super 8 projectors will project Single 8, which is identical to super 8 at the projection stage. Only a super8+Regular 8 sound projector will do what you want. However Rick, I think you would be much better off buying a stand alone super 8 sound projector, and a stand alone regular 8 sound projector, because a lot of compromises are made in the design of the projector claw in order to have a dual 8 function in one projector. In dual 8 projector's the claw is usually round instead of rectangular, and this can sometimes put high stress and little depressions into the tiny super 8 perforations, leading to unsteady projected pictures when the films are subsequently shown on another super 8 projector.
