I've read many of the threads about re-recording from DVD and Laser Discs. What I would like to know is if you have a movie that is partialy out of sync., but has the soundtrak there, can you record the entire soundtrak say onto CD and then re-record the trak correctly back onto the film IN SYNC?

Thanks, Dick

Hi Dick,

I would suggest a better method, if you decide to re-record at all, would be to purchase a new VHS or DVD of the film for an even more enhanced re-record. This will save you the time of recording your S8 track onto a CD and give you much better quality. Hope this helps.

Hi Dick,
I have done this very thing many times. I have had films from Derann and particularly Walton where the sound has been out of sync.
I have a GS Interface made by the old firm of Cresta. This plugs into the GS ESS socket and then allows you to record a 1000Hz pulse/frame on to one track of a stereo cassette tape and the actual sound on the other. Obviously have a known frame in the aperture of the projector to do this such as the number 3 on the countdown leader.
Via the GS interface you can now play the tape back which will now control the projector and record the sound back onto stripe at the same time. Again you now have the film loaded in the gate with it advanced or retarted by the number of frames needed to bring it back into sync.
If you have a GS then this is a very useful device. You do see it for sale s/h on the dealers lists and also on ebay sometimes.

Kevin.
