There's nothing like seeing your name in print, especially when it comes as a complete surprise! Forum scribes Adsett, Atwood, Quinn, Peckham & Meltzer's descriptions of the 47th BFCC are used in Keith Wilton's Film Review section. With John Clancy's reviews and Tom
Photiou's tech tips, the Forum is all over issue #56!

Keith phoned me a few weeks back and asked if I minded him re-printing part of my own article on the last BFCC at Ealing. I naturally said yes as I really enjoyed myself, and I can't wait for the next one on October 23rd, it's just a shame that there always have to be knockers of these events, and the Ealing event in particular, but I suppose you will always get jealous types, who would like to arrange an event, but are just to lazy do so, so they have to launch bitter tirades at those who do. I know for a fact Keith spends weeks and weeks on each event, selecting the program, advertising etc. let alone getting his merry band of helpers together, who all do sterling work for no pay (except perhaps a meal back at Keith's after the event). You just can not hire a venue and open the doors to the dealers and collectors and let them sort thereselves out, planning has to put into place long before one collector walks through the door, dealers have to have a place alotted, the large screen Keith uses is put up the night before (usually very late in the evening) and then it's up at sparrows to let the dealers in. Then after another great event, everything, and everyone has to go home, so the process starts in reverse again. I don't think your average collector really has an idea of the amount of work a 10 a.m. till 5 p.m. show can make, I wish one day that someone might do a reality TV type video just following the likes of Keith around the day prior, and on the day of the show, I think people would be amazed what organising goes on in opening the doors on one of these film fayres.

All I can say is keep up the good work Keith, and all the other organisers like Derann (Blackpool) and Geoff Wheeler (Tadley).

By the way Geoff Wheelers lively little event is on Saturday October the 2nd, if anyone was wondering.

And if anyone's interested you'll find a large except from the latest 'Super 8 Film Review' (and that includes the quotes from this forum mentioned by Doug) under www.bfcc.biz/news5.html This is specifically in response to Barry Rexborne's latest slagging off of the BFCC.

By the way, the screen doesn't get put up the night before when we're in the big Victoria Hall as it's always solidly booked on a Friday evening.

Funny thing is; although there's lots of mention of the forum in the FFTC magazine there's no mention of the web address. Have to make sure that Duncan gets it in to the next issue [Wink] .

The magazine seems to be picking up a bit at the moment, it seems fuller and more interesting than it has in the past. Good to see another one of your articles Tom! I suppose I really ought to get my finger out and write that article I've been promising on collecting MGM digests, not sure if that would be of interest to anyone other than me though [Roll Eyes] .

Yes thanks John, i spilt tea all down me when i saw my name mentioned.
I must say that i have been amazed at the amount of negative thinking from some people, very strange indeed. [Confused]

I will put that article together john, just not very good at putting things down.
Looking forward to this Octobers BFCC.

Chris.

Hello Craig, welcome to the forum [Smile] .

Well it seems that there would be at least three people reading my article so I guess I'd better get on and write it! [Big Grin]

Hello and Cheers to Everyone featured here on the forum as well as in FFTC.

I was impressed with all of the forum members that
made it into the FFTC. It's great to see pictures of people
along with the article. A reality review of the BFCC days planning and
events is a great idea, which I would love to see on video.

Mike, I would be interested in The MGM Digest article too.

I have a 200' color sound edition of Singing in the Rain.
It begins with the original opening credits and moves onto
the Make 'em Laugh number, and then ends with
Singing in the Rain.

I also have Easter Parade and An American in Paris as two 400 foot
digests. I once had the dual 400' digests of A Night at the Opera, but
sold it a while back. It too was pretty good.

By the way, speaking of digests, I also have a 200' version of
Empire Strikes Back. It is striped with sound, and it includes
an audio cassette with the same soundtrack to play along for those that
did not have sound projectors. The box is as thick as a 16mm reel.

Best regards,
Michael
