Although I love the 1200 for its robust build quality and booming sound the one feature that Elmo messed up on (in my view) was an active speed control as found on the GS800 and GS1200.

Has anyone retro-fitted a device to control the speed or is this just not possible?

As you can tell I have the engineering and electronic knowledge of a slug! No, that's not fair to the slug population [Big Grin]

Tony, the ST1200 has an AC synchronous motor unlike the other models which use a DC motor. The DC motors can have their voltage varied and therefore their speed but with an AC synchronous motor the speed is governed by the mains frequency (50 Hz). Yes in theory the frequency of the supply voltage could be altered but a lot of motors dont like this and can even overheat. Just use your GS instead [Smile]

GS1200 Xenon with Elmo 1.0...great combo along with a 16-CL Xenon for that super bright white light.
