For those of you who were interested in my problem with my Bauer S209XL not performing, I have, after a lengthy and judicious [Roll Eyes] investigation, discovered the fault.

I actually decided it was worth wasting at least one cartridge, so I prised it apart and loaded it into the camera in an attempt to see what was going on - or more to the point - what was NOT going on!

I fooled the camera into thinking the door was shut, by actuating the necessary pin releases, and started to run the camera.

Lo-and-behold, the fault was immediately apparent [Eek!] . The drive dog which engages the centre of the cartridge to turn the internal film spool, though it was turning all the time itself, was only engaging the cartridge intermittently - if at all on some occasions.

Upon closer inspection, it became apparent that the teeth on the drive dog were worn, as compared with my S409XL and S609XL.

SO, does anyone know where I might acquire a new drive dog? The camera is utterly useless without it and only fit for the bin. However, if not, and anyone in the Forum would like to make me a reasonable offer for it for spares, plus postage, they are most welcome. Both my other cameras are in pristine condition, so I do not need it myself for spares and it's only taking up space.

Anyone interested can either respond via the Forum, or e-mail me direct at: sales@pannellandpartners.co.uk

Best to all,

Dave.

Valves and celluloid - a great combination!
Early technology rules OK!
