These agents are silicone-based. I wonder if they would be good for "green" film and are they safe on mag. tracks?

The problem with using any of these products that aren't tested on or recommended for motion picture film is the long term effects are unknown.

I do know that many years ago when I worked in a lab, we tried some silicone in the final wash and quickly gave it up due to speckling and splotches. It's almost damn near impossible to get rid of it.

Dealing with mag tracks is even more dangerous because there are various types of stripe with different means of application and different chemicals can attack the stripe. 8mm is more prone to these problems since the stripe is so narrow and any chemical underneath can cause it to delaminate or dissolve if it's a dispersion stripe.

If any problems develop, it may not turn up until the next owner has the print. Much like we found films which had undergone scratch removal were more likely to have VS troubles especially the expensive Technicolor IB prints!

I notice the word "Silicon" being used here but dont forget that Derann's tried and tested LFC is in fact Silicon dispersed in isoprop.

GS1200 Xenon with Elmo 1.0...great combo along with a 16-CL Xenon for that super bright white light.

Perhaps they found a suitable type. At least it's tested for film use where as household items are not.
