Just had another film striped by E v T. Takes only a few days and the prices are reasonable. I was wondering, has anyone ever seen inside E v T, if so, what's it like.

I have also just got a film back form them and yes it was only a few days turn round.

I had a Derann feature which is no longer available and the first reel had no stripe for the first 150ft. I sent this section off to EVT and it has now come back ready for me to put the soundtrack back from DVD. Great service and very reasonable prices and this was on Polyester film stock.

Kevin, Simon

What does it cost per foot? I have a whole feature without a main stripe, Chicken Run. Since repairing the capacitor, the balance stripe will carry a decent recording though.

Tony,

So you snagged that stripeless "Chicken Run" from the Derann used list? I almost went after it myself, but didn't feel up to striping and recording an entire feature!

I believe EvT charges 5p/foot for main stripe only. (6p main and balance, 7p dual stereo)..at least it was when I had him stripe 400 Feet this time last year.

I wondered what the difference is between stereo and main and balance? Does the stereo have a wider balance stripe?

Correct: stereo striping puts two full width stripes on the film.

I had Main and Balance and have been pleased with the results.

Hi all,

EVT charges 5p for main only and 6p for stereo. This had been answered on other thread. Please see this link

Steve, regarding your last post:

Did you say that both tracks have the same wide? How could it be, since as far as I know the space between left and right are not the same, because of sprocket holes?

Or I misuderstood your statement?

Thanks,

Hi Winbert,

Yes: dual, equal stripes of the same width as one normal main stripe.

Since he does it, it must be possible, however I haven't seen it myself. It's just what he wrote in our E-mail correspondance last year.

I've seen (and in fact own) a number of super-8 films that have balance stripes which are strictly designed to serve their one purpose - that of keeping the film flat in the gate to ensure good focus across the width of the entire image... these balance stripes are far too thin to possibly hold a good recording. I've tried recording on one of these and the sound was barely recognizable among the constant dropouts during playback.
Whereas true 'duo-play' or stereo sound stripes do have a wider balance stripe, albeit still narrower than the main stripe - but both are designed for actual sound recording with twin-track/stereo projectors.
I'm guessing this is what the difference between EvT's "main/balance" and "stereo" striping options is.
