Hello Chaps, just wondering if any other forum members have a Chinon 7000 projector. I have just acquired one for a ridiculously low price and would like some user / owner feedback on this model. I intend to use this purely for the kid’s cartoons and their little film shows. Hopefully this will save the Elmo from a constant pounding of Disney & Tom & Jerry. It does not come with a manual, so any feedback will be greatly appreciated. [Wink]

Many thanks

Craig

I own 2. They're not bad models. They do the job, but they're not as well-built for endurance as an ELMO. The belts on CHINONS are a springy wire material that does eventually stretch to some degree like any other belt (symptoms that this is beginning to happen are a slight lag in the take-up reel's momentum and the framing constantly needs adjusting not to mention the loss of loop from time to time. You won't find replacemnt belts for CHINONS new. You'll probably have to steal one from another CHINON somewhere. So, in short, when CHINONS start to go they're pretty much dumpster fodder. If you got a good working model for under $100 then you did just fine and hopefully it will last you for a while. On an up note, the CHINONS are normally have nice speakers and they are generally easy to clean. O'h... BE extremely careful pushing any kind of a cleaning brush into the aperture gate - it tends to misalign things and compromise the accuracy of the claw.

Thanks Brad, this machine so far is working perfectly. As stated earlier it is only being used for the Kids cartoons, all serious projection is down to the Elmo or Eumig. With regards price, it cost less than $30 with accessories. [Wink]
