Hi all,
Just booked my Eurostar ticket to attend the 50th BFCC. Who else is coming? Anyone taking a table?

I'll be there... along with just about all my equipment and films. I hope this one turns out as we wish for. With the line up we look sure to have a major celebration of Super 8 for it's 40th.

And thanks for making the effort Jean-Marc. Your presence is greatly appreciated.

My Bro and myself will be there. More to the point, what dealers will be there with tables?
Apart from Perrys and Derann?

Good question. Still haven't heard from a couple of them. And that Mike Peckham's let us down! Some vague excuse about him travelling.

I'll be there, I love this one (it's just 40 minutes in the car) as it's my local convention. I finally get to see some films all the way through, brilliant!

I will be there with the rest of the Lightwater Gang (Tony Millman, Craig Hamilton, Chris Quinn and Rob Koeling) minus Mike Peckham [Frown]
Oh I nearly forgot I think we have a new name now " The Ealing Mafia" lol [Big Grin]

Kev.
PS Sorry if most people dont understand those comments but some certainly will [Wink]

Well! Here's hoping. It comes around so quickly. Have started trying to juggle work schedules again, but it's the same old story. [Frown] Clients want all their electrical inspection, testing and maintenance work doing during weekend shutdowns. Pretty obvious really, but damn difficult to wriggle out of it. Probably won't know for sure till the day or so before. BUT I AM TRYING - and don't anybody dare say "yes - very trying"!

Best,

Dave.

I certainly hope to be there and have postponed the Kids' half term holiday to make sure I am free

Flattered though I am Kev to think that some numbskull could possiby consider me part of a mafia, mob, clique or other such gang of persons I don't think I could claim membership! Certainly not of the Ealing mafia!! Don't have enough experience with the hobby to count for anything!

Tony, only joking. Chris by the way has moved onto the Dark Side or should I say the Panny VP side [Frown]
Theres a great show lined up for this 50th BFCC so lets hope the numbers are double the norm. John going to be using his GS Scorcher to hopefully give us a 24ft wide scope presentation like has never been seen before at the BFCC from super 8. Cant wait to see this Bill Parsons conversion on a screen that size should be awesome. [Smile]

Kev, No worries [Wink]

I would at one time have considered myself to be part of the Perry's Massive but you hear so little of that gang these days......

Chris, come back all is forgiven

Will we have the added attraction this time of witnessing yet another GS1200 die of ELC causes? [Big Grin] (This is what happened at the base camp last May, triggering the much dreaded Wrath of Kev).

John, do you have any details regarding the screenings, what's being shown and when?

Nothing's finalized yet Jean-Marc, but I expect the highlight of the day will be the Ilford Colour Hoe Down.

What is currently planned is a morning show as part of the celebration of 40 years of Super 8; Later, the longest, most spectacular 'Scope show ever; A repeat of the greatest sync' pulse extract from a feature we've ever shown (in our opinion!), 16mm show, 35mm show, 70mm show - and finally a tribute to the 200th anniversary of The Battle of Trafalgar with reel 6 from Master and Commander.

We're hoping to put reel 6 of Master and Commander on it. Currently having some logistical problems getting it together with Keith's xenon for direct comparison to see if there's any benefit.

Anyone procrastinating about coming it looks like you'd better go all out to make it as it's very possible this is the last BFCC to make use of the Victoria Hall. So if that's the case there is unlikely to ever be another film collecting event on this sort of scale anywhere.

Jan, I agree, but it would be rather hard getting the word out. hell, I wouldn't be suprised if most people selling out thier collections these days even know that super 8 is still limping along, thanks to Derrann and other companies.

But it would be fun to come up with a title for this club. I'm actually serious! I think my collection has built up enough with enough good projectors to warrant being called a serious collector, (and would give me even more time to spread my "Optical sound super 8 gospel" better, hee hee!!!

It's such a big country and were so spread out though, but, it could be done! Write me an e-mail with some ideas.

All the best.

Oh, quick question, where are most of the super 8 COLLECTORS these days? Eastcoast or Westcoast?

John, does that mean we will be squashed into the other hall below ground! What a shame the Victoria Hall is so spacious and can accom so many more people and projectors!
Anything we can do to help, pots of Black Paint for permanently blocking up the stained glass wimdows [Wink]

Well we better have a good turn out then if this is to be the last in there.

There is no way that i am going to miss the BFCC if i can help it, i shall be nakerd as i work nights, but i'll be there.
Tony, you should stop being so modest all the time, i'm sure there is not much you don't know about the hobby. Kev, i have managed to locate 5 violin cases, [Wink]

I have my opinions about DVD and Film, but Film is a hobby and DVD is certainly not! Now i must return to the Dark Side.

Chris.

I do hope to have an answer on the elmo roller rubber wheels one way or the other by this time. I have asked the engineers to re-consider making just 30 pairs rather than 50. I am waiting for a reply.
BTW, how will i know who is who, how about i wear my work name badge. [Wink]
