Does anyone know of a good Elmo repair person in New York City or the surrounding areas? I don't trust the guys I was using anymore since he held onto two of my ST800's for the last year and never was able to fix them. My GS1200 is starting to act a bit funny and I want to be prepared for when that needs to go to the hospital!

Your best bet for price and turnaround (and some of the only remaining parts left in the US for the GS) is to contact Leon Norris in PA. He can usually get your machine done in a week or less. If you need your machine ASAP and are willing to pay $$$ Duall Camera does very good work. Leon had a Xenon machine of mine for 6 months because the problem was very elusive. He did what he could and in desperation I contacted Duall. They found the problem and it was fixed in 2 days. But to the tune of $450. Ouch!

That's the main problem with the GS Alan, when it goes wrong you are talking big bucks [Frown]

. Most projectors are fairly simple and can usually be fixed by a savvy owner, but the GS is in a class by itself, with its total electronic control system it really is a very complicated beast. But for all its quirks it is probably the best performing machine out there, but I would not recommend it to the casual collector who in my opinion is better off with the simplicity and ease of use of a Eumig or Sankyo. GS's need constant TLC!

True that the GS does need attention from time to time but once you see the machine with a 1.1 Schneider or the 1.0 Elmo.. you will be astounded. I tried the Sankyo S800, Bauer T610, Chinon SS1100, and the Eumig S926GL. In my humble opinion nothing can touch the light output, sizzle and definition that the GS has to offer. The Beaulieu is probably a very good machine but no Optical Capability. That leaves the Fumeo and that is not stereo. Sigh.. if only Elmo would make a limited run of the GS1200 Stereo with the HTI output..you know.. in the same way that Nikon re-released the SP camera.
But than again if they did the machine would cost around $6000 US and I am sure with very few Super 8 releases coming out..it would not be a money making venture for Elmo. [Frown]

Now to come to think of it.. where is that Review of the Eumig S938/940 by Doug?
