Video on film

The Black & White Film Factory from Ontario, Canada offers a service that is unique worldwide. They Copy DV and HDV video onto Super 8 film, in color or black & white. 'smallformat' tests its quality.

A feature on Super 8

German actress Franka Potente has shot a 48-minute silent movie. She captured her film on Super 8 color stock, intending it to resemble a silent movie from the 1920s. It was converted to B&W in post production and features a piano soundtrack. The piece was a big success at Berlinale, the Berlin film festival, and will be featured in movie theatres starting in August. smallformat brings an exclusive report on this unique project.

Straight Eight

Paul Beard, a British filmmaker, describes his experience with Super 8 and DV. In 2004, he participated in the straight8 competition for the first time. It resulted in one of his films being bought and broadcast by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.

Processing E6 yourself

Following up on a hands-on report about processing small gauge film in this issue, Beatrice Jäggi (Switzerland) describes E6 processing techniques.

Ikonoskop – a new model from Sweden

Two Swedish film freaks have developed a 16 mm camera that has become very successful, selling over 120 units. smallformat puts it to the test.

Thought I'd already mentioned it but apparently not: I FINALLY GOT MY SECOND ISSUE OF smallformat IN THE MAIL. [Smile]

Now my question is... (I think I'll stick with surface mail after all...) who do I send my PayPal subscription payment to?
