My Bauer Royal 8E makro has such a crystal sync socket... it can be used to remotely start/stop a tape recorder along with the camera's trigger, or to trigger an external flash (i.e. for indoor time-lapse scenes or the like).

Later model Canon 814's and above I believe. Also, I've seen sync' sockets on Nizo's and Nikon's.

I do believe the carena 7710 IM with the interchangeble lensmount (same as Nalcom FTL) has one.

Hi,

to me it sounds like you're mixing up "crystal sync" with "sound sync".

"crystal sync": An external device (with a crystal) tells the camera to run at an exact speed.

"sound sync": The camera starts/stops a tape-recorder synchronous to the film-transport. Some of these cameras even produce 1000Hz-signals for each frame. That signal can be recorded and later can be used to adjust the tape-recorder's playback-speed to exactly match the frames (e.g. when the camera got slower during the take because the batteries started to become empty). (There are some cameras that produce these signals only for every 4th frame or that use 100Hz or 500Hz instead of the 1000Hz-beeps.)
There are even some cameras that only produce these beeps, but don't start/stop the recorder.
Some other cameras don't produce these beeps themselfs, but generate a "flash the flash-light"-electrical impuls for each frame that can be "converted" to the 1000Hz-signal by a "beep-generator".

So: what are you looking for?

Jörg
