Here's one for all those "doom and gloomers" out there, my Blackpool tickets arrived this morning from Derann, so all those people asking whether or not Blackpool is "ON" this year, PLEASE TAKE NOTE"YES" is the definate answer, as I have the tickets to prove it.

I hadn't heard that rumour Barry. There was definitely word being passed around that the BFCC was cancelled as Keith had a number of phone calls in that regard, but I didn't realize the propaganda machine was now working against Blackpool too. Who is the burk making up these stories?

My suggestion is: If any of us speaks to someone that has heard one of these rumours, try asking them who they heard it from. If they come up with a name, try asking that person. If they can't come up with a name, there's at least a chance that you've found the source. This might be futile but it's got to be worth a try. I don't want to assume that there's anything dubious going on - there's always a chance that there's (e.g.) some mixed-up person that's not 'all there', who might be delighted to hear that his worries have no basis in fact!

Sounds like good advice to me Adrian. These rumours have been going on for a while now and if this source had been right then the BFCC would have been no more some years ago which of course has quite clearly not been the case.
I cant understand what kick some people get out of it by spreading stupid rumours arround.
Balckpool is going ahead and I dont think that has ever been in question and as far as i know there is going to be a 52nd BFCC in October unless John or Keith know different so there is really no need for people to take any notice of these tales of woe.

Barry, I bet some Jerk will still try to convince the world that it's been cancelled and that super 8 has finally died etc etc.

In the latest 'Super 8 Film Review' in FFTC, it says: "Only recently, at a small event in Rickmansworth, at least one collector was told by the organiser that the BFCCs cad been cancelled".
Wondered if anyone might who this person is, and be in a position to ask why he was saying this?
