Just wondered if anyone knew whether any of the local adverts you would see at the cinema before the main feature, usually for a Chinese or Indian restaurant, ever made it out onto super 8? [Confused]
Unlikely I suppose as presumably they would by unique to specific cinemas.
I remember them from the 70's and 80's.
Would love to be able to show at home. [Smile]

I bought a used print of "The Old Mill" from Derann which came with a series of ads for a camera shop, hairdresser and a laundry in Birmingham, UK. Since it seems to be from the 1960s the camera gear and the hairstyles are interesting to see!

AFAIK nearly all of these advertisings have been on 35mm or 16mm (even though they probably originated from Super8).
Nevertheless I've seen some of these ads on Super8, too, e.g. from "Opel Hetzer" ("Hetzer" is a local reseller for "Opel"-cars). I can't tell wether this was a "pirate copy", an "original" for the 35mm-version, a free copy made for customers ("buy this car and get a free super8-film") or something else.

The only I know of who might be able to have and to sell those German(!) ads might be Michael Schneider:

I have a couple of reels filled with such local ads. They came with a Fairchild "suitcase projector", packed into special 400' loop cartridges. I bought the lot directly from a company which specialized in commercial production. Among the films are ads for local HiFi shops, car and furniture dealers. The craziest spot is for a night club, where the narrator promises (in German) that "our girls will look after you".

One of Classic's 'Classic Nostalgia' reels has a Dick Emery skit which then cuts to a card (with a bang) for some local shop that has nothing to do with the skit just shown. Wonderful. I think the 'Stagecoach' trailer is also included on that reel amongst plenty of other stuff.
