This is a strange one, as I remember there was a big hoo ha in the 8mm world when CEOTTK first came out as Columbia Home Entertainment had worked closely with Stephen Spielberg on the final cut for the home 8mm release, and he had to authorise the "Final Cut". I have had numerous 400's of this title through my hands and they have all had the same cut, all I can think of is one of the many negs used for this title must have got damaged, and someone making a new neg didn't follow exactly the cutting notes, thus the slight variation. Now if we were talking "The Sound Of Music", I reckon I've seen about 6 or 7 different cuts to my knowledge, very crafty marketing here, as FOX had a tendency to leak the fact that a slightly different cut had come out, so fans of the movie would go and buy it, although usually only 2 or 3 scenes were different, very clever.
