Hi does anyone have a manual scan or any info on this model super 8 projector please.
I think they were from Dixons, the UK photographic chain ??? and looking at its pics Ive seen I think I may have narrowed it down to possibly a yelco base or Chinon ( please please not hanimex or cinerex)
I`ve bought one at a good value price to see me by until I get a small elmo and hopefully it will land next week.
Any advice ideas and experiances greatly appreciarted.

Fair question considering Prinz Magnon projectors aren't Elmos [Wink]

Mark, is it this one that you won? (Assuming it even was an eBay purchase, of course) Just asking because although the seller doesn't mention a manual, one is clearly visible in one of the photos so it ought to be included.

The machine does look rather attractive - kind of a cross between a Noris and an Eumig, except in metallic-silver. Me likey...

Hi Jan yes thats the one, I bid £22 and £25 towards the end to not just loose it by a £1 say.
I didn`t want to go above that as a make do for now and you can get say an st160 for not much more and I`m sure in a different leage and also I don`t know what the set up is in the top sprocket area etc though it looks like it will have one etc etc etc.
It does look quite nice but unthreading part way through looks like a non way job from what I can see.
Yes the arms do look a bit eumiggy, hope its not mind as not keen on the eumig claws. For that its worth a go as not run a film since march and I`m going mad and through serious hot, cold, and desperate Turkey for a film thread up and titles on hit if you will.
I just wondered if anyone had any experiance of them. I think they were a budget job from a photo store in the UK so low end really. Oh but if only it were a sweet st180 elmo etc but I do hope to enjoy it and get a little mileage.
I think others avoided it as an unknown beastie.

really I don't know much of anything about the Prinz Magnon 1000, but I wouldn't worry too much about its build quality - fact is, it would be highly unusual for a low-end machine to sport 800ft reel capacity and a fast 1.2 lens, so I have a feeling it'll turn out to be a very nice unit indeed. Do keep us posted on your experiences with it once you receive it [Smile]

Mark, It could well be a Chinon. The Prinz Magnons were the trade mark of Dixon's here in the UK and they also were the distributor for the Chinons from what I remember.

I had a Prinz Magnon LV which was the first super 8 silent machine I had as a Christmas present from my parents at the age of 10.

I hammered that machine with the handful of super silent L&H's I had and it still worked well. Eventually I bought my first Sound machine which was an Elmo ST600 when they came out.

So what I can say is that if the Machine you are getting is from the same stable as the LV you should be ok.

Yes don`t ever buy one, working fine, its all fine but its a mini dissaster in the sense that after you`ve had elmo or bauer etc you just can`t put your films through one. Nice lens and capacity but thats it really. The film path while OKish is truly uninspiring, gave it a good clean and not marking but its a first and a few used films to watch machine.
Its gone to the garage in disgrace to sit there in case one of the nippers fancies one in a few years for a play or may bung it on ebay buy it now for £25 or so in the darker months as its got its uses etc. As I say very nice lens.
A 600 foot elmo is a GS1200 by comparrison.
