Never heard of it-are you sure it's not about the SS 1200 Stereo?
I have a leaflet of Chinon which I had got in 1984 and has almost all sound projectors I know, but a 1000 stereo is not mentioned nor have I seen or heard of it anywhere.

Antoine,on reflection, I just saw the projector on eBay France, and if that's what you saw too,I can say I'm a bit surprised as I had really never seen it before;looks like a simpler version of the 1200. The money he's asking isn't bad for such a model I think, but then again let someone who knows it speak.I just send the link for anyone that might have a comment:

Well, I can confirm that the Chinon SS1000 is for real. Unfortunately I don't remember much else, but judging from the photo this one seems to have somewhat fewer features than the SS1200, perhaps 800ft (rather than 1200ft) reel capacity - and I'm not 100% sure if this really is a stereo machine or merely a twin-track one, even though the seller claims it is stereo.

...AHA!! I found a webpage through Google which mentions the SS1000 (as well as the SS1200) with some specs for each... about one third down the page. Here's a Babelfish, um, "translation" ...

F/1.3 OBJECTIVE 15-30 MILIMETER, LAMP 12/100. CAPACITA' MAX COILS 360 MT., INSERTION AUTOMATIC RIFLE FOR VIA OF SPOOL DENTATO, RETROMARCIA IN PROJECTION. THEY SHIELD INCORPORATED, SPEED SHIFTER!! ALL An ADDED GOOD S.8 FLOODLIGHT, LIGHT And POURED THEM In ITS FUNCTIONS, OPTIMAL The MODEL 1200 GREATER BROTHER OF THIS!!

Thank you very much!
Indeed I had seen this projector on Ebay France at the costs of 80 euro!
But I did not know it! This is why I asked for your opinion!

If I remember right, a British company (possibly Derann?) offered couple of brand new SS1000s as well as SS1200s in the beginning of the 1990s - the first time I heard about this projector. The SS1000 was a stereo machine with 1200ft capacity as well - I think the only (?) difference was that the SS1000 was designed for the smaller 12 V/100 W lamp.

Yes, Eberhard, that pretty much sums up what I found out about it as well.
At 80 euros, this seems like a pretty good buy to me, by the way...!

Hi, It was me who imported the SS1000 along with the SS1200 back in the early 90's we were the sole importer of these machines and distributed them to other dealers including Derann for resale. If my memory serves me well, we imported over 150 SS1200's and 100 SS1000's. The main difference between the two was that the SS1000 was only 12v/100watt lamp. We also imported from the same source GS800's (40 in all). Quite a funny story really which I will not enlighten you with now. But if you really want to know just ask.

I think I remember that story, didn't the Elmos come from Gran Canaria where they were being used as door stops in a department store?
