I thought that it was high time I properly introduced myself to the forum. Thanks for all your help so far; you really are a friendly and enthusiastic bunch.
I'm in my early 40s and I've been making and collecting films all my life - I "inherited" my great uncle's original (1930s) 8mm camera and projectors when I was about seven. I still have them and they still work. I think the Bell and Howel Filmo 8 is a work of art and have it on display. However the less said about the Kodak Kodascope 8 the better.
In the real world I'm the Chief Technical Officer of a small software company, so spare time doesn't really exist.
I find that serious interest in the hobby seems to wax and wain in three or four year cycles, but never goes away. Now that it looks like my work related travel is down to a sensible level (in the past 9 years I've worked all over the world and lived in the US for three years) I'm getting back into this.
Buying a video projector three years ago changed my approach to the hobby. For a couple of years I rarely ran or bought films. Then recently I decided to concentrate on obscure things that just aren't available on DVD (plus WB cartoons of course). This seems to have mainly lead me away from Super 8 to Standard 8 and 16mm. Life is more exciting, but my bank balance isn't happy!
Cheers Stewart
