Just been scanning some of Bill Davisons reviews to send to a fellow collector and thought it might be fun to put together a compilation of his views on the first 400ft release of Star Wars;
Bills first mention of Star Wars in the Jan 78 issue of Movie Maker;
And then in April, Bills Tag Line for the package reviews;
The review of the cinema release;
And then the review of the package release;
And Mountain Films ad for the Star Wars release in the same issue;

Mike,
Thank you! I'm so glad you've collected those issues of Movie Maker. Funny, but I recall seeing the 400' version in stores before the 200 footer came out.

Mike Great photo, the early release of that film had a huge impact on film collecting, and Doug I think the 200 footer came out just prior to the cinema release as a teaser, shortly before the 400 ft version and thinking back I am pretty sure both extracts could be carefully edited togther. Graham

I LOVE these old clippings. They bring back memories of the glory days of Super 8. And yes, the 200' STAR WARS came out before the movie did and long before the 400'er. I remember ordering it before I saw the film because I heard that Peter Cushing was in it, and was a little bummed he wasn't in the digest. I also remember bringing it to summer camp (I was 11) along with my Kodak super 8 sound projector and wowing everyone with the film. They put us all on a bus to the local upstate New York theater to see the whole movie afterwards and we all blown away and watched the digest nightly in the camp's hall. I also remember having movies shipped to camp including MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR and having a movie night for all the counselors. Needless to say my movies made me very popular....Ahhh more memories...
