Does anyone know where one can get the clear type cases that Universal-8 furnished with many of their 400' editions? I just love these style boxes and there's got to be some way of getting more.

I have quite a few of these Tuscan reels. The 200 footers are fine, but I find the 400 footers are often a little warped and pinch and release the film each revolution (with a really soul wrenching "scrrrrraaaape!" sound.)

-during rewind they wiggle on the spindle and make an "eekeekeekeekeek" noise that'll make the hair stand up on the back of your neck!

Results will vary: some are fine and have films living on them, some are warped and stay in my box of editing supplies to hold clips while I'm putting together a film.

I have a used 200 footer which showed up in this really funky case. It looks exactly like the flip-top cases that audio cassettes come in, except sized to hold a 200 foot reel. I've never seen another like it.

I wonder what U-8 did with the excess unused empties? Niles used them also. Many of mine are now cracked and I'd love to replace them.

Walton also used a very similar box for their later releases. As long as the box was undamaged when you got it, I think it was hard to beat as they are very compact and not as prone to splitting as the 'clamshell' type. Not as much scope for artwork, though.
