Im trying to find out how many models there are in the Fujica Splicer range for Single & Super 8.

Standard model uses the 100 splices?

Deluxe uses the 500 splices? any other difference?

is there perhaps a Stereo model? for use with Magnetic Soundstriped Films?

cheers

Jean-Marc, does the stereo version use a different type of tape? how does it keep the sound-stripe from being covered?

Yes, the stereo splicer uses the same kind of tape.
OK, let's try to be clear...
1 - two ends of film that need to be spliced are placed on a plate, soundtracks up. Center of plate is hollowed and film rests on a stationnary pad.
2 - there's a small lever on the side that will flip the plate towards you (soundtracks now facing down), film now rests on top of another stationnary pad.
3 - like on other Fuji splicers, tape is on a roll in front of you, you pull tape away from you and place it on film using the guiding sprockets.
4 - push down cutter
5 - back of film is now spliced, use lever again to flip plate to its original place (soundtracks up), this will reveal an additionnal piece of tape that has been cut when you pushed down the cutter. That extra piece rests on a small flat metal extension with its own lever.
6 - push the second lever away from you. This will lift the extra piece of tape and put it gently exactly between both tracks. Press down with a cleaning pad (to avoid fingerprint) and put back second lever to its original starting position.

Tada!

A very ingenious little mechanism...
