I have just been reading a "Movie Maker" review of a new (then!) Super 8 sound projector in which they said that the version tested was only for magnetic record and replay whilst the same model in Japan had the additional capability of reproducing optical sound.

I quote:

"Optical super 8 has been actively discouraged by Kodak and others in Europe."

Does anyone have any information in regard to this comment?

I've never heard of that before, but then, as a general rule, there were very few "official" releases of super 8 optical sound. A few Disney's a few digests, but I ran into very few.

It was mostly and still is, those old airline features!
