I've honestly never seen one offered, though i know that they exist. Was this one of Universal 8's very last releases, or THEE last release?

I saw it one time at a store in 1985, then never saw it again until last year. In the last twelve months, I've got three copies of this two-parter. The second one I've already sold (warm and dubbed into french). The first one I keep for the moment as it's in English but slightly faded. Third one has better colours but is in French. I will soon transfer the soundtrack from #1 to #3 and a fellow collector has already optioned #1 (once I've transfered back the french track from #3). Phew...

Lucky son of a gun! Did they all go overseas?!!

I have noted that a lot of the later 2X400 seemed to have been printed on the bad eastman stock. I hope that some of the "Blues Brothers" prints were done on at least Kodak SP (as my Battlestar Galactica is, lovely print). Kodak SP isn't perfect, but if it's stored properly, it can last for a good long time! (though not as long as a good AGFA or L.P.P.)

I must say that is pure dedication for you in obtaining three copies in a year. Great stuff. Just shows you if you look hard enough you will find what you’re looking for in the long run. I also find it strange how the process Kodak SP can be so different in so many ways. It can either start to fade when it has a slight red tinge in the black segments of the film. It can also start to look brownish or start to go yellow. The Yellow I find more expectable on the eye, then the other two-fade problems.

Unfortunately I would assume that all prints where printed and developed in the states and from what I can tell most prints from that period done my Universal or Universal 8 have started to fade or will fade in the long run. Kodak SP is a funny process but if you are really lucky you might find a print that has not faded one bit one day who knows.

Interesting to know that Derann is bringing out the trailer to the Blues Brothers 2000. Now wouldn’t it be nice to have the original trailer and the sequel released as a double bill, which would be a sure high seller on everyone’s part.

Actually, print #1 was spotted by my buddy Edouard (he's a forum member) at a cine store here in Paris. Acquisition was concluded instantly. [Big Grin] Said store is now closed at this location, it supposedly has moved but I haven't checked the new place out.
Print #2 was part of a job lot trade at our big january convention (a non faded print of Ken's Empire Strikes Back was also part of the lot).
Print #3, I found on Ebay France. So, yes, keep your eyes peeled, prints are out there (cue X Files music). [Big Grin]

Was it John, didn`t know that, must have been one of the last if it was, but its a cracker. Well in my humble trailer mad doings.
By the way Barry at Indepenedent still has a cracing sale on via the BFCC site, also worth checking out.
Best Mark.

If interested, there is a 16mm print on sale on ebay.com
It's not a scope print but a reduced scope, I think. Colors seems to be good.

Here is the link:

Good luck.

JC.

I would not touch that print with a barge pole. As what i can see from the screen shots it has gone brown plus it has wear and splices through out.

Plus for the price he is asking it's not worth that much. Now if the price was $200 dollars it would be well worth it.

Mark, I have both of those trailers on 35mm.

I do know of the Blues Brothers here in Australia and of another one I am after Xanadu, but they are not common. Xanadu is easier to find however.

It does say that the Blues Brothers copy that they have has "color fade". Gary is VERY honest, so if a potential buyer of this print writes, I'm sure that gary will tell you exactly how good (or bad) the print looks.

ironic though, the "Blues Brothers" is selling for 20 pounds, yet I just bought the full feature "Futureworld" with pristine color (optical sound) from derann for 21 pounds.

Go figure.

Osi - that price for Futureworld makes no sense at all - Derann would charge far more for a feature unless it had serious faults, and I can't imagine them charging an obscure sum like £21 for anything! I think they must have made a mistake that has proved fortunate for you!

Honest Adrian, the color is absolutely beautiful, which is nice as it is a 1976 print. Note: I have not been able to watch it yet ...

... but we have to factor in optical sound prints. They really have become something that unless your really into them, (as I am), they don't sell well.

... It should be noted that a few months back I bought a feature print of "Treasure Isaland (Orson Welles, 1972) for 28 pounds, from Derann (by the way, Futureworld was 21 pounds, not american dollars)

Futureworld doesn't appear to have nearly any scratches. If there is color loss, it can't be much. Treasure Island did have a slight color loss, but just fine, as far as I'm concerned.

I think theres something a bit magical about optical super 8 prints, also they are nice and sharp usually so a bit of colour loss or even all I`d still enjoy them.
Wish I still had my small collection of them.
Have you had Bradys escape Osi, very good.
Best Mark.

I missed The Blues Brothers, but nabbed Xanadu. Oh well, I'll keep looking. I thought I really pounced on the Derann email too. Some are just faster on the draw I guess.
