OK, I would love this title as well, and it isn't as common as other Universal 8 Digests, but Good Golly, it's up at 143.00 dollars! I hope the people spending money for this realize that this isn't a full feature. I think the people even say that the color isn't pristine either. I think someone is going to be dis-appointed.

and I thought I did well on my "Walt Disney Christmas" auction.
Wow!

Osi,
I would pay that for a good colour print, that has original boxes (this one has not) and no splices (this one has splices throughout).

I keep missing it!

Gee, I have this BLUES BROTHERS digest but I didn't realize it was so rare. It was one of the last digests before Universal 8 closed up shop in the early 1980s.

The colors in my print have held up very well, but the colors weren't that great to begin with, and a tad grainy. (Also, it's funny how a "2x400" digest can fit so nicely on a 600 foot reel! Maybe it should have been advertised as a "2x300" digest!)

I agree John. Those Universal 8 2X400ft digests were only about 15 and a half to 16 minutes per reel, which allowed that approximately 32 minutes digest to just barely fit on a 600ft reel.

I don't think that it's as much of a matter of "The Blues Brothers" being rare, as people probably, for the most part, just holding onto the title, as I see it now turning up more often, perhaps because of this Forum beinging it up. I believe that a lot of people check out this forum, just to see if there is any interest, (this is where perhaps a large number of our "newbies" come from, people wanting to sell thier collections, and drumming up business for thier titles. Nothing wrong in that.)

Still, I just think that a bidding frenzy spilled forth on the title. The person DID say that it was just a 600ft reel, and a 30 minute cutdown.

If you ever want to sell your print, give me a e-mail, though I can tell you, ahead of time, I'm not paying no 150.00 dollars.
That seller really scored!

I always thought it was weird (and somewhat of a ripoff) that end credits were inserted at the end of the first "400" reel and opening credits were inserted again at the beginning of the second "400" reel, which further reduced footage. I don't know if it was done for copyright purposes, but it certainly reduced the footage spent on the actual digest itself. By the late 70s and early 80s, the individual "400" foot reels in these "2x400" digests eventually creeped down to the 14-minute level -- but the price sure didn't reflect it! Sometimes I wonder why I put up with it at the time. . . .

I agree John.

Sell me your copy of "The Blues Brothers" and I will alleviate you of this pain of the ever shortened 400ft digests! [Big Grin]

Hey, I don't even need the original boxes.

Just send me a good ole e-mail!
