Well, I got to the end of a reel last night and stopped my projector and the projection lamp was still on. I quickly yanked the cord since I figured without the motor running the cooling air would stop and the bulb would overheat.

So I did a little poking around and found that the lamp is turned on and off by a lever switch actuated by a cam on the control knob shaft. The cam is moving the lever in and out so I’m pretty sure the switch itself is stuck closed. The replacement doesn’t look too bad, and I actually have a parts machine which doesn’t have a lot of mileage on it (the frame is damaged, it won’t run, but everything that should show signs of wear looks very new) so I have replacement switches available.

However, as long as I’m going to do all the work, I’d rather put in brand new switches if I can find them.

Does anybody know the manufacturer and generic part number for the lever switches Elmo used and if they are still available anywhere?

Even if the part isn't exact for my machine (ST-800), It will be pointing me in the right direction.

Thanks!

Sounds like a snap switch, these come usually in three sizes: standard, mini and micro. And the contact arrangement single pole single throw, single pole double throw, and normally open and normally closed.

Take at look at this surplus dealer and see if you can match anything up. www.allelectronics.com

Hey John,

Your input has me looking at my parts sources a little better informed. I think if anything a new switch is a good possibility: the problem if anything is now there are too many choices!

Thanks!
