Hi all,
After I got really disappointed with a drama movie on 8mm digest "A Farewell to Arms", I was so pessimistic in buying other drama movies due to the missing plot after the edit.
But since "African Queen" was already in my closet, I was trying to spend my time for this movie. Having seen on Ebay that originally it was screened for 105 minutes, I wonder how they cut that into 18 minutes (Ken Films, 400").
But I was so surprised that the digest was really well edited. I could follow the plot although I haven't seen the full feature in my whole life.
The digest could perform well all the laugh, sadness, romantic, suspense, tragedy and happiness between Hepburn and Bogart.
All scenes are beautiful and the print is also sharp.
Unfortunately the print is well faded.
I don't now if you ever found this Ken Digest in beautiful color. Please let me know.
It will be my other repeatable digest.

I would highly suggest the full feature of this film. From the prints that I have seen of this film, most have tended to maintain they're color fairly well, even being mostly Eastman prints of this. It must have been decent batches of it. My feature print of this hasn't faded a bit and this is a film where that technicolor really is appreciated.
For instance, I always admire the shots of the African flora ans Fauna. Some of the shots of the assorted wildflowers that drape over the sides into the river are astoundingly beautiful purples and light blues. I'm not sure how many different companies manufactured prints of this, but my particular print doesn't have any wash-out to it. The blacks aren't absolutely perfect, but judging by the original leader on it, (which is jet black) it appears that the original negative didn't have perfect blacks to it either.
A truly great film, from a time when the classic era and its stars were beginning to wane; before all the "message" movies started coming out and it was all about wonderful romatic adventure!
